Bulk carriers

OMT has Provided Design for more than 150 Bulk Carriers

OMT has developed and provided design for numerous bulk carriers constructed in Asia. Our designs are based on the well reputed SEAHORSE 35 handy-size bulker carrier platform, which has proven to be a design with good performance and good operational flexibility.

The OMT designed SEAHORSE bulk carrier designs are modern and highly efficient Bulk Carrier designs developed in close cooperation with owners and operators.

The first SEAHORSE 35/375 vessel was contracted in 2008 by a Danish owner at a Chinese shipyard. Per today more than 60 SEAHORSE 35/375 vessels have been contracted by prominent owners and operators, such as Cobelfret, Hanzevast, Pola, Graig, Essberger, Berthling, Aug. Bolten, Ariston Navigation Corp, Nordic Hamburg, Falcon Maritime, Montenegro Line, Wah Kwong and MUR. The vessels have been contracted at 10 different Chinese shipyards.

The success of the SEAHORSE 35/375 Bulk Carrier design was acknowledged by Lloyds List’s Greek Shipping Awards 2013 by awarding M/V ARDENNES Ship of The Year 2013.

Encouraged by the great success of the SEAHORSE 35/375 design OMT has developed three new SEAHORSE Bulk Carrier designs

All designs have a superior fuel performance with hull form, propeller and MHI ReactionFins developed and provided by Mitsubishi Shipbuilding.
