OMT is contributing to the development of Arctic Ships for the Royal Danish Navy through its role in the consortium Danske Flådeskibe K/S.
Denmark are considering procurement of a new generation of Arctic Ships intended to address future operational requirements in the Arctic and North Atlantic.
The objective of the programme is to develop a new generation of Arctic Ships to replace the Thetis class, which shall be capable of supporting a broad spectrum of missions in harsh conditions. These include sovereignty enforcement, surveillance, environmental response, search and rescue, and defence-related operations.
As a member of Danske Flådeskibe K/S, OMT contributes naval architecture and engineering expertise to the programme. Drawing on experience from naval projects in the UK, Poland and Singapore, to develop concepts for future Arctic Ships with a focus on flexibility, efficiency and long-term adaptability.
Danske Flådeskibe K/S brings together Danish industrial and defence capabilities, including OMT, Terma, PensionDanmark and Semco Maritime, with the ambition of offering a Danish solution for future Arctic Ships.
The ambition of the programme is to provide Denmark with a new generation of Arctic Ships designed to meet future operational requirements in the North Atlantic and Arctic regions.
Through a modular design approach, the vessels will be able to accommodate a range of mission packages and equipment configurations, enabling the vessels to perform multiple roles while retaining the flexibility to adapt to future requirements.
The initiative also highlights the importance of maintaining and developing Danish competencies and industrial resilience in naval ship design, systems integration and maritime construction.
