invisible headline here if you need it

At Odense Maritime Technology we experience a steady increase in the number of projects in the area of ship design and that is why we are looking for a ship or mechanical engineer with industry experience who, through interest, commitment, ambition, and a high professional level, can develop, in a short period of time, into covering the necessary skills in ship outfitting design.

Odense Maritime Technology covers all the technical disciplines involved in the design and construction of naval, ferries and merchant vessels, as well as various shipyard tasks. OMT has two offices in Denmark. One in the immediate vicinity of Odense Railway Station and one close to Copenhagen Central Station.

You will be a part of the Outfitting department and you will also occasionally assist during yard optimization tasks. OMT’s task portfolio ranges widely – from small, limited retrofit and conversion projects to the design and planning of naval vessels, ferries, and merchant ships.

Your tasks
  • Concept and basis design of equipment on naval vessels, ferries and merchant ships

  • Knowledge of various class and authority requirements

  • Drafting of technical specifications

  • Layout and handling of the deck equipment (anchor, mooring, cranes, various special equipment, etc.)

  • Layout of the rescue and fire-fighting equipment

  • Layout of the helicopter hangar and flight deck

  • Access layouts including doors, hatches, and stairs

  • Participate in the drafting of building specifications

  • Liaise and negotiate with classification societies, authorities, and customers to obtain approval

  • Cooperation and negotiations with system suppliers

  • Participation in cross-functional teams with colleagues from other disciplines

Your professional and personal qualifications

You have a degree in naval or mechanical engineering and 5-10 years of experience in design and specification of complex systems, either from another ship-design house, shipyard or equipment supplier.

The majority of our clients are foreign and you can expect varied travel activity. We also expect you to have a good command of written and spoken English.

Personally, it is important that you thrive in a dynamic environment where you are constantly faced with new challenges and daily decisions which often involve compromises. Of course, these can never compromise integrity, quality, and safety.

You have an interest in IT and are a proficient user of both CAD and calculation systems, as well as the Office suite.
